Within the etoiles polaires festival  – and more particulary the project ‘Sonic Pictures’ – I worked on the next fase of the Jesus Creation Control Centre.

Invading Reycjavik with my toy soldier army was quite simple since the Icelandic people were totally unprepared and willing to cooperate. Miki Jacobsen was there too and helped me out with taking some great pictures.

The installation was shown at klink og bank at the ‘circus’ exihibition. It consists of a singing Jesus-statue and a picture-documentary of the invasion. The tracks I made for this installation consist of field recordings and electro-akoustic music composed under the influence of the beautiful landscape and the unreal semi-dark atmosphere..

Etoiles Polaires nodigde drie geluidsartiesten uit respectievelijk Reykjavik, Nuuk en Gent uit om van stad te wisselen en op basis van hun indrukken een ‘sonorische’ installatie te creëren. De IJslandse Kira Kira legde haar indrukken over Gent en Nuuk vast. De Gentenaar Ruben Nachtergaele reisde met hetzelfde doel naar Groenland en IJsland en Miki Jacobsen wisselde Nuuk voor Gent en Reykjavik.

Kira Kira was in september te gast in Nuuk en presenteert tijdens het festival haar Gentse ‘Sonic Picture’. Miki Jacobsen is de Groenlandse gast in het Sonic Picturesverhaal. In juni was hij samen met de Gentse geluids-artiest Ruben Nachtergaele te gast in Reykjavik. Hun Sonic Picture werd er tentoongesteld als geluidsinstallatie tijdens het Klink&Bankfestival. In november was Miki Jacobsen bij ons te gast om zijn indrukken over Gent op te doen als vertrekpunt voor zijn installatie.
